What to expect during an in-home newborn session?

You can expect to cherish these photos for a lifetime!  Our babies are only so little for so long.  These have easily become my favorite lifestyle sessions because it is so relaxed in the comfort of your own home.  Instead of packing everything up to run off to a studio, I can come to you!  Being a new Mom can be overwhelming.  Being a Mom to a toddler and a newborn can be a lot to juggle.  But don't worry, that's why you have me!  I have two toddler boys so I know exactly what it was like.

I will send out a lengthy questionnaire to better prepare for our session.  This is where I give you pointers on how to make the best of our session but it is also where I ask a few questions to you as well to have a better understanding of what you are hoping for with this session.  We go over the rooms in your house to determine which ones will have the best light - even texting me pictures of the rooms beforehand!  Same with outfit coordination.  I have a style board that I like to include in these emails but I also encourage you to text me your ideas, if you need help.

I tend to schedule these sessions 7-10 days from date of birth.  I will guide you on how to prepare a few rooms for us to shoot in to eliminate some clutter and make these rooms photo friendly.  I will help you coordinate your outfits.  You can expect me to occasionally rearrange some furniture in the nursery for the best lighting.  I am happy to give you a quick tutorial on how to create the best swaddle.  I prompt you through all the poses and will always have the utmost patience for our session.  Usually a feeding might happen in the middle of our session and this is when I switch gears and capture all the sweet details in the nursery.  My latest newborn client hung up curtains in the nursery from her husband's grandmother's house and included an adorable little lamp from her grandparent's house.  How beautiful are those details to include in her final gallery.

Every in-home newborn session is absolutely beautiful because it is capturing your family as real as it gets!
